Extreme weather changes driven by climate change are ravaging countries around the world, displacing millions of people, animals and plants.
Heatwaves are becoming the new normal, and 2022 is set to join the top 10 warmest years, continuing a trend based on human activities. We are living through a criss and need to do our part to reduce our environmental impact.
However, as the world is shifting to avert the climate crisis – from using renewable energy to limiting deforestation – many are enemies of progress.
French oil giant Total and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation are planning to build the longest heated pipeline across Uganda and Tanzania to extract oil. The East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) will not only cause catastrophic global heating through use of fossil fuels, but will force people out of their homes, endanger wildlife and destroy the environment it’s running through.
Through the #StopEACOP campaign, organisations and environmental activists have been courageous enough to speak out and we need to stand beside them to stop this.
Add your name to this petition, then email the CEO of TotalEnergies, the French giant working alongside China National Offshore Oil Corporation on this plan. Send them a direct email that this is not going to happen on our watch.
