Have you heard?! Queen Bey was in Jozi — and she brought JAY-Z, Cassper Nyovest, D’banj, Ed Sheeran and more incredible performers with her. Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 has kicked off a movement across South Africa to send one powerful message: we can be the generation to end extreme poverty.
To honour of the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela, Global Citizens have taken more than 5 million actions — signing petitions, tweeting world leaders, and calling embassies — asking them to end poverty and gender inequality, tackle hunger and malnutrition, and promote quality education, healthcare and sanitation for all.
None of this would be possible without you, our partners, and world-class artists and hosts who donated their time to support our mission of ending extreme poverty. This unprecedented event saw performances from Beyoncé, JAY-Z, Cassper Nyovest, D’banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Kacey Musgraves, Pharrell Williams, Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher and Wizkid.
And as if that wasn’t enough — Trevor Noah hosted, together with Naomi Campbell, Dave Chappelle, Sir Bob Geldof, Gayle King, Bonang Matheba, Nomzamo Mbatha and Tyler Perry. And they were joined by Oprah Winfrey!
Send a message to say ‘thank you’ to the hosts of Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100!
