As Global Citizens we believe that all people should have access to education, clean water, and nutritious foods.
When the White House proposed that the international affairs budget be cut by 32%, supporters across the country took over 170,000 actions in June to make sure that their members of Congress know that foreign aid saves lives, builds economies, and keeps us safe here at home.
But, we’ve just heard that the House of Representatives has proposed cutting international affairs budget by 17.2%! While this isn’t as bad as the White House’s proposal, this certainly isn’t good news for the millions of people around the world who rely on the generosity of the American people to be able to survive.
Key leaders like Congressman Hal Rogers and Congresswoman Nita Lowey are working hard to protect America’s lifesaving aid programs, but they can’t do it alone.
Call your member of Congress now and ask them to push for $60 billion in funding for international affairs. Together, we can send a strong message of support for the world’s poor.
