Mahsa Jina Amini was just 22 years old when she was brutally beaten to death by the police in Iran for showing hair beneath her hijab.
Her death sparked protests across the country. Women burned their hijabs, cut their hair, and demanded an end to the curtailing of their rights. Hundreds of thousands have since taken to the streets demmanding “Women. Justice. Freedom” in opposition to broader government repression.
But the mass protests have been met with brutal crackdowns from Iran's government. Security forces have killed hundreds of protesters since September and the government has started executing young protesters brave enough to speak out.
The rest of the world needs to stand with the people of Iran and call out the actions of its government. Tweet now to show solidarity and share how all of us can take action to make a difference.
