Learn More about this cause:

Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) shape so much more than health — they shape futures. Across Africa, millions of women and girls still face barriers to contraception, safe maternal care, menstrual health support, and HIV prevention. And when these services aren’t available, the impacts ripple out: preventable deaths, girls missing school, lost income, and communities left more vulnerable.

But there’s real hope — and real progress. Since 2000, maternal deaths in sub-Saharan Africa have fallen. Family planning has helped reduce unintended pregnancies and ease pressure on health systems. HIV prevention programs are helping protect young people. And menstrual health initiatives are helping more girls stay in class.

Still, progress isn’t equal everywhere — and too many women and girls are being left behind. That’s why continued leadership and investment matters.
