Climate impacts almost every aspect of our lives, from where we live, the clothes we wear, our transport infrastructure and even where we source our food. Right now, extreme weather threatens the safety and livelihoods of billions of people around the world – many who can’t access healthy, affordable and environmentally friendly meals.
The reality is we all need to play our part in adapting to the changing climate and reducing our carbon footprint. And many of you agree.
Since the beginning of the year, over nine thousand Global Citizens signed a pledge powered by our partner the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens, to make better food choices which minimise the impact on the environment, food systems and for smallholder farmers who cultivate the food we need.
From buying locally grown food, supporting local farmers, starting to grow their own vegetables or becoming an advocate for sustainable food and agriculture, Global Citizens committed to incorporate simple techniques in their lives to become food champions.
We’d love to know how you are progressing so please send us a photo and a short message showing you in action. We’ll share these with other Global Citizens to inspire them to also take on the challenge because we know we can only move the world forward when we are united.
