Right now, we can see what a world without one vaccine looks like as we struggle to contain coronavirus. But what if you lived in a world where no vaccines were available?

This is the reality for millions currently living in extreme poverty — 3 million people, including millions of children, die every year from vaccine-preventable diseases. And, if and when a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available, these communities are at risk of being left behind for that too.

That’s where Gavi, the Vaccines Alliance, is making a difference. Gavi works across 47 of the world’s poorest countries to make sure those living in extreme poverty have fair access to life-saving vaccines. So far they’ve worked to contain deadly diseases like Ebola, saving over 13 million lives and vaccinating over half the world’s children.

As health systems come under increasing strain, more families than ever are at risk of losing out on the vital vaccinations they need. It is vital that Gavi remains funded to not only deliver its regular live-saving vaccines to everyone in these difficult times, but to get a coronavirus vaccine out to all when the time comes.

On May 4, leaders will gather digitally for a conference to launch concrete commitments toward protecting humanity against the effects of COVID-19. We need you to call on them to make sure a pledge to Gavi is part of that moment.

Where you live shouldn’t decide whether you live. Call on world leaders to protect those in extreme poverty throughout this pandemic and beyond by making a new pledge to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
