Millions of people around the globe could suffer if a proposal known as rescissions goes before Congress to strip away funding for diplomacy and foreign assistance that was already passed in the budget bill earlier this year.

This rescissions package that President Trump’s Administration is expected to submit will mean USAID and the State Department could see funding retracted that diplomats and recipients of foreign assistance around the world rely on.

Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney is expected to submit this rescissions package to Congress in the next few weeks. Normally, Congress would have the opportunity to review the rescissions package and either approve, alter, or deny the administration’s request.

But, given that the fiscal year will end before the 45-day freeze on spending this would result in those funds essentially being cancelled even without Congress taking action to approve the proposed rescissions.

It’s critical the Global Citizens make their voices heard to #StoptheCuts and prevent this rescissions package from going to Congress.

As OMB Director and Secretary of State, Mick Mulvaney and Mike Pompeo respectively have the power to stop this rescissions package in its tracks and protect the funding for foreign assistance and diplomacy that is critical to global health and America’s own national security.

Tell Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney to protect international assistance and diplomacy funding.
