Delta is reducing single-use plastics onboard — and you can too! Every year, millions of tons of plastics like cups, stir sticks, and wrappings pollute oceans, harm wildlife, and break down into microplastics that enter our food and water. Made from fossil fuels, plastics also contribute to climate change and can take centuries to decompose.
Delta has already cut nearly 4.9 million pounds of single-use plastics from flights and is testing paper cups that can eliminate another 7 million pounds annually starting in 2025. Other updates include bamboo cutlery, compostable dishware, and kraft paper earbud wrappers — all part of Delta’s Sustainable Skies Lab to reduce waste and push long-term innovation. Beyond plastics, Delta is also investing in fuel-efficient aircraft, operational fuel savings, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to tackle its biggest source of emissions: jet fuel.
You can help make change happen faster. By choosing reusable bottles, bags, containers, and utensils, you shrink your plastic footprint and signal demand for more sustainable practices.
Take the pledge today: together, your choices — alongside Delta’s leadership — can protect oceans, preserve wildlife, and move us all closer to a plastic-free future.
