Ending extreme poverty cannot be achieved if half of the world’s population continues to be held back. 

The world has made remarkable strides toward achieving gender equality in the past 50 years, including increasing life expectancy and halving the rate of death during childbirth, but there is still a long way to go. Without fair access to health, education, reproductive rights and work, women will never achieve equality of opportunity.
