Menstruation is a fact of life for women everywhere. Yet, only half of the girls in India have knowledge about it before their first period.

Without education and resources to manage their periods in safety and with dignity, girls in the poorest countries are missing and dropping out of school during puberty.

It is time the state of Maharashtra in India, as well as Norway - as a global leader in women’s education, health, and rights, and top international contributor to the Global Goals by giving 1% of its GNI to international aid - step up for menstrual hygiene.
