This June, world leaders will gather at the Finance for Development (FfD4) Summit to decide how to fund solutions to climate change and global inequality. Right now, these crises are deepening, yet those most responsible — fossil fuel giants, aviation, and finance — are still not paying their fair share.
Aviation accounts for 12% of CO2 transport emissions, yet jet fuel is barely taxed. Big Oil made $281 billion in just two years while fueling climate destruction. Meanwhile, everyday purchases are taxed, but stock market trades often aren’t — even though a tiny tax on them could raise $433 billion per year for climate finance.
This summit is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make polluters and profiteers contribute to a fairer world. But it won’t happen without public pressure. Tell leaders to act now — our planet and future generations depend on it.
