This week, Global Citizen lit up two of France’s most iconic landmarks — the Eiffel Tower and the Sorbonne — with one clear message: no child should be left behind.
Since 2000, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, has helped protect more than 1.1 billion children and prevented over 18 million deaths. But in 2024 alone, 14.5 million children missed out on basic protection. Many live in communities with the weakest health systems — the very places most vulnerable to future outbreaks.
Gavi doesn’t just save lives. It builds global resilience — helping countries prepare for, prevent, and respond to health emergencies. That makes it one of the smartest, most effective investments any country can make.
France has a proud history of global leadership in health. But ahead of Gavi’s 2025 replenishment, it hasn’t yet made a new pledge. It’s time for President Emmanuel Macron to act. With France’s support, Gavi could reach 500 million more children by 2030 — and help build a safer, healthier world for everyone.
