All children deserve an equal and quality education.
In the last decade, global efforts have helped get tens of millions more kids into school, but there’s still much to do. In 2016, a quarter of a billion children and young people are not in school. And, more than half of these children are girls.
Investing in quality education is essential in ensuring that all children have access to a quality education and can utilize their skills in order to lift themselves, their families, and their communities out of extreme poverty. Just one dollar invested in a one-year increase in the average years of schooling generates more than $5 in additional total earnings in low-income countries.
The Global Partnership for Education is a multi-stakeholder partnership and funding platform that provides global and national support for education in developing countries and focuses on the poorest and most vulnerable children and youth. Increased funding for education is vital in assisting the Global Partnership for Education to achieve their goals.
That is why we are calling on the United States Government step up its efforts in its commitment to global education equity by increasing funding to the Global Partnership for Education to $125 million a year and bilateral funding to basic education to $925 million a year.
Our partners are actively campaigning in support of global education, now we need to add the voices of thousands of global citizens to get our government decision-makers to respond.
The United States Government is starting to put together the budget for 2017 right now. With your petition signature, we’ll work with partners to go direct to the key decision-makers to get a significant new commitment to see millions more kids in school.
