On April 6 President Trump launched a military strike against a Syrian airbase in response to the Syrian government’s use of chemical weapons two days prior.

We at Global Citizen condemn the use of chemical weapons and stand firmly with the international community in opposing the use of these weapons against civilians.

We also believe that the US must play a critical role in helping refugees from the Syrian conflict find safe harbor.

Currently, refugees entering the United States go through the most extensive vetting and screening process in the world. There are nearly 21.3 million refugees worldwide, over half of whom are under the age of 18.

As President Trump noted in his statement after the missile strike, “the refugee crisis continues to deepen and the region continues to destabilize, threatening the United States and its allies. Tonight I call all civilized nations to join us in seeking to end the slaughter and bloodshed in Syria and also to end terrorism of all kinds and all types.”

As the region continues to destabilize, we urge the President to heed his words and focus on aiding the most vulnerable and marginalized.

Help us call on President Trump to reverse his policy on admitting Syrian refugees. They deserve better.
