Learn More about this cause:

Across the world we are seeing journalists being targeted, threatened and attacked for doing their jobs. This is what happened to Floriane Irangabiye, a  journalist from Burundi who has been unjustly imprisoned for exercising her fundamental human rights.

Floriane was arrested without formal charges and subsequently sentenced to 10 years in prison on accusations of 'undermining the integrity of the national territory.' Her crime? Peacefully exercising her human rights and her work as a journalist in speaking out against her government.

Despite promises from President Evariste Ndayishimiye to improve human rights, Floriane's case highlights ongoing suppression of dissent in Burundi. We cannot stand by as Floriane endures severe conditions in detention in Muyinga Prison, deprived of her freedom and silenced for her courageous journalism.

In partnership with CIVICUS, a network of civil society organisations that promotes and defends civic freedoms and human rights worldwide, we need your help to send a strong message to Burundian authorities. Join us in flooding their Twitter timelines to demonstrate widespread global support for Floriane Irangabiye. Together, we can urge Burundian authorities to uphold human rights and ensure freedom of expression for everyone.
