Communities and countries on the frontlines of the climate crisis are already losing homes, harvests, and lives to floods, droughts, and rising seas, while worsening their debts trying to take action. This devastation is called loss and damage, which has been mostly ignored since first being raised in 1992.
Developed nations have a historical responsibility, having fueled the crisis since early industrialisation. Now, they must take responsibility. For too long, leaders have delayed real solutions, leaving vulnerable countries without the resources to rebuild and adapt.
The Loss and Damage Youth Coalition, representing over 1,400 young people from 100+ countries, has developed a set of urgent demands ahead of COP30 in Brazil. They call for loss and damage to be recognized as a core pillar of climate action, for finance to be grant-based and directly accessible to developing countries, for Indigenous Peoples, youth, and frontline communities to be fully included in decision-making, and for a $300 billion climate finance goal - in public finance - that scales toward $1.3 trillion.
This is about accountability, equity, and protecting our shared future. By signing this petition, you’re joining youth and frontline communities worldwide in demanding that leaders act now to deliver real climate action for loss and damage at COP30 for a more climate-just and equitable future.
