The Amazon is one of the planet’s greatest natural treasures. It regulates rainfall, stores carbon, and sustains millions of people, plants, and animals. But deforestation is pushing it toward a dangerous tipping point.

Germany has long been a champion for rainforest protection. Now, Chancellor Friedrich Merz has the chance to deliver again — by committing $75 million to protect 30 million hectares of rainforest (an area the size of Italy) and support the Indigenous communities safeguarding it every day.
