Across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, farmers are facing rising temperatures, less rain, and growing uncertainty. But there’s hope.
Agriculture research centers and youth training programs are creating climate-smart tools — like heat-resistant seeds, solar-powered irrigation, and new ways of farming that protect nature and grow food. These solutions help communities adapt, support farmers, and open green job opportunities for the next generation.
We’re asking the UK, Canada, and Norway to fund these proven solutions by supporting CGIAR — a global network of research centers helping farmers grow food and protect nature in a changing climate.
As part of the 2025 Global Citizen Festival campaign, this action connects with our calls to protect the Amazon and expand access to clean energy. It’s all part of building a future that defeats poverty and defends the planet.
Sign now so we can deliver a powerful petition to these governments this September — online and in public — and show them the world is ready for real action.
When you sign this petition, your name will be added to a list of Global Citizens who care about farming, food, and our planet.
We will collect all of these signatures and include them in a special digital packet — like an online letter — that we’ll send directly to the governments of the United Kingdom, Canada, and Norway.
Each government will receive:
A copy of the full petition with the number of people who signed
A short letter explaining what we’re asking them to do
Real quotes and messages from young people and farmers
Information about how funding science-backed farming — like the work done by CGIAR — can protect food, jobs, and forests
We’ll send this packet to:
The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office
Global Affairs Canada
Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs
We’ll email it to their official offices and follow up to make sure they’ve seen it. We may also share the packet with their embassies or climate teams.
At the same time, we’ll share parts of the petition publicly — on Global Citizen’s website, social media, and in press stories. That way, everyone can see what we’re asking for — and leaders will know the world is watching.
All of this will happen in September 2025, just before big global meetings about climate and poverty. Our goal is to make sure these countries include funding for science-backed farming and green jobs in their next climate and development plans.
