New York City, Thursday, September 4, 2025 — Global Citizen, the world’s leading advocacy organization on a mission to end extreme poverty, today announced Bill Nye, Adam Lambert, Danai Gurira, and Liza Koshy as co-hosts of the 2025 Global Citizen Festival. Speakers set to participate on September 27 include Kristen Bell, Tony Goldwyn, Laurie Hernandez, Nate Burleson, and Vladimir Duthiers as well as Lydia Kekeli Amenyaglo, Fy Rajaonarivelo, Esther Kimani, Omowumi Ogunrotimi, Valeriia Rachynska, and Taily Terena. Additionally, Colombian singer-songwriter and musician Camilo will join the music lineup performing on Central Park’s Great Lawn.
This year’s Festival campaign includes partnerships with The Bowery Mission and Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy to engage New York residents to volunteer, with support from Goodera. On September 13, The Bowery Mission will host Global Citizen Day to provide nutrition and care for those living in poverty in our local communities. Additionally, on September 19, Global Citizen will organize a beach cleanup at Canarsie Pier to defend the planet and protect New York City’s coastline. The shore restoration is also in collaboration with the Black Surfing Association East Coast Chapter. All participants will earn a ticket to the 2025 Global Citizen Festival. Register to volunteer at globalcitizen.org/en/involved/volunteering.
For the first time, the ceremonial movement Solstice Unites will open the Global Citizen Festival and present a historic Global Powwow to honor the land and the ancestral stewards of the grounds. The ceremony will pass the torch to Indigenous leaders in Brazil for the upcoming Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia in Belém on November 1.
Tickets to the Global Citizen Festival are free and can be earned by taking action on the Global Citizen app or website. As previously announced, the 2025 Global Citizen Festival will be headlined by The Weeknd and Shakira, with performances by Tyla, Ayra Starr and Mariah the Scientist. The festival campaign is mobilizing $200 million to protect 30 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest, expanding access to quality education and football for 30,000 children around the world in partnership with FIFA, providing energy access for 1 million people across Africa, and registering 40,000 New Yorkers to volunteer across the city.
“The Global Citizen Festival is unlike any other event in the world and I’m proud to again be part of it, this time lending my voice as a co-host to help highlight innovative solutions to the most pressing issues of our time,” said Adam Lambert, Global Citizen Ambassador. “It’s an honor to be an Ambassador for this growing movement as we take action to protect the Amazon, support children’s literacy, scale renewable energy in Africa, and mobilize New Yorkers to volunteer.”
