Why Global Citizens Should Care
The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is testing the resilience of health care systems worldwide. The "Together At Home" virtual series and campaign encourages people to practice social distancing and support the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Singer-songwriter Tayla Parx showcased her gorgeous voice during a fun acoustic set as part of the "Together At Home" virtual series on Monday.

Parx was sitting on an orange couch in front of a white wall that had orange, yellow, and red dots splashed along it. The vibrant, lighthearted mood was accentuated by her dinosaur socks and her tiny dog, Bella, who made a brief cameo. As beats played on nearby speakers, she sang her hits "Disconnected," "I Want You," "Homiesexual," "Rebound," "Slow Dancing," "Me vs. Us," and "Fight."

Parx is a prolific songwriter and she performed a few songs she has credits on, including "Love Lies," by Normani, "I Like That" by Janelle Monáe, "Thank U, Next" by Ariana Grande, and "High Hopes" by Panic! At the Disco.

During her set, she encouraged her fans to practice social distancing, wash their hands to the "happy birthday" song, and support the World Health Organization (WHO).

"I think we’re all trying to get through this together. We all want our families, we all want strangers, to be safe," she said. "Let’s do all we can to be strong as a society, so we can continue to push forth and do groundbreaking things as a whole."

Parx said that the measures being taken in response to the pandemic have helped people realize the importance of hygiene and the fragility of health systems.

"Make sure you guys go to the World Health Organization [site]," she said. "Make sure you guys are taking action today because we are all trying to fight this as a community. It’s a major time for us to be sticking together."

The "Together At Home" campaign was launched on March 16 by Global Citizen and the WHO. Dozens of artists, actors, and influencers have joined the campaign to support the WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Through the campaign, Global Citizens can take actions on a number of topics, including calling on world leaders to fund relief efforts.

Globally, more than 693,000 people have been infected by the coronavirus and 33,106 people have died from it, according to the WHO. The WHO is working to ensure that governments are fully equipped to treat patients, support health care workers, and contain the spread of the virus. The organization is also funding research into potential treatments and cures.

As the countries work together to end the pandemic, everyone around the world can play their part by washing their hands, practicing social distancing, and helping their communities overcome the accompanying disruptions to daily life.
