Singer-songwriter Grace Weber delivered a brief, but captivating livestream set as part of the "Together At Home" virtual series on Wednesday.
Weber’s powerful voice carried her through her songs "Find a Way," "There Is a Way," and "Elated," as well as a cover of "We Find Love" by Daniel Caesar. The emerging artist urged her fans to visit globalcitizen.org/coronavirus to learn more about the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and find ways to take action and help.
"There’s lots of resources for how you can support finding a cure, finding a vaccine, how we can all stay home together to stop this spread, so many things we can do together," she said.
During her set, she sang "Happy Birthday" to one of her fans that requested the song in the comments sections. She also let fans know that they could reach out to her for support during the pandemic.
"I know it can be really hard to stay alone especially if you're alone, but I want you to know that I’m here for you, we’re all here for you," she said.
Weber also spoke about the work Global Citizen is doing.
"They’re doing a lot to spread info about COVID-19, help raise funds for the vaccine and treatment options, raise funds for people who are in need of assistance, and most importantly, they’re spreading awareness about staying home," she said.
The "Together At Home" campaign was launched on March 16 by Global Citizen and the WHO. Artists, actors, and influencers are using the campaign as a platform to bring people together online to combat feelings of isolation and to show support for the WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Through the campaign, Global Citizens can call on world leaders to fund relief efforts.
"This is so cool that all these artists are coming together around the world and promoting what Global Citizen and the World Health Organization are trying to do to support the stopping of the spread of the coronavirus," Weber said.
Globally, more than 823,000 people have been infected by the coronavirus and 40,598 people have died from it, according to the WHO. The WHO is orchestrating an international effort to contain the spread of coronavirus by investing in health care systems, advising governments, delivering essential supplies, and researching treatment options.
Health experts are urging people to continue social distancing to flatten the curve of coronavirus. In other words, the more people stay away from public spaces and shield themselves from exposure to the contagion, the sooner the pandemic will end.
