Why Global Citizens Should Care
COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on some of the world’s poorest communities. Join Global Citizen and Christine and the Queens by calling on world leaders in countries like France, Belgium, and Luxembourg to ensure that tests, treatments, and vaccines will be made available to everyone, everywhere through the 'Global Goal: Unite for Our Future' campaign.

French singer-songwriter Héloïse Adelaïde Letissier, better known as Christine and the Queens or Chris, tweeted at French President Emmanuel Macron, Belgian Prime Minister Sophie Wilmès, and Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel on Monday, calling for them to support equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccine — and good health around the world.

The French native first called on Macron to support equitable access to the eventual COVID-19 vaccine for all people, including those who live in extreme poverty, urging him to take part in the Global Goal: Unite for Our Future campaign.

Chris then asked Wilmès to commit to ensuring equal access to health around the world, acknowledging that Belgium had already committed to the development of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Finally, the star reminded Bettel that COVID-19 knows no borders and asked that he join Global Citizen's campaign, too.

All three tweets highlight the need for each country to join the global fight to end this pandemic by supporting the Global Goal: Unite for Our Future campaign, which looks to address the disproportionate impact COVID-19 has had on marginalized communities.

While the entire world has felt the wrath of COVID-19, the pandemic has hit marginalized communities the hardest — communities that include people of color, those living in extreme poverty, and anyone who faces discrimination and stigma.

In order to ensure that everyone, everywhere can access good health and well-being, which is the subject of the United Nations’ Global Goal 3, investments from countries like France, Belgium, and Luxembourg are crucial.

Christine and the Queens, along with Global Citizens around the world, are calling for new investments from world leaders to ensure not only the development and distribution of tests, treatments, and vaccines, but that all of these vital tools are made accessible to all.
