Why Global Citizens Should Care
Coronavirus is uniting the global community in an effort to reduce the spread of the virus, and treat those already infected. The "Together, At Home" virtual concert series works to encourage people to stay home, and to help reduce the feelings of isolation and anxiety by bringing people together through music. Charlie Puth has joined the growing number of artists unifying people around the world in the face of coronavirus, through the "Together, At Home" virtual concert series.

Puth took to Instagram on Wednesday, treating fans who are self-isolating at home to a live show from his parents’ home in Los Angeles.

"Together, At Home" is a virtual experience launched this week by Global Citizen, the World Health Organization, and a group of incredible artists — with more joining every day. Together, we’re using music to bring people together all around the world, when feelings of isolation and anxiety are running high.

Chris Martin kicked off the series on Monday, continued by John Legend on Tuesday and Puth on Wednesday.

“Of course when they asked me to be a part of this, I said yes,” he told those watching at home. “Encouraging people to keep practicing social distancing, but why not have some fun and listen to some music while you’re doing that?”

“And now we’re going to play some songs,” he added, calling for requests from his audience.

During the half-hour set, Puth treated his audience to hits like “One Call Away” and “Attention,” as well as a cover of Carole King's and James Taylor’s “You’ve Got a Friend” — and he even threw in a bit of Mozart.

In addition to his performance, Puth had an important message for viewers.

“Stay inside — we’re all going to get through this,” he said. “If you think about it, it’s the first time we’re, the world, is in unity."

Puth also encouraged those watching who want to learn more about how they can take action to slow the spread of coronavirus, to head to Global Citizen and join in the Together At Home campaign.

Through the campaign, you can take action to educate yourself about the virus and how to stay healthy, as well as call on G20 states to support the global effort against COVID-19 and support the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund through spreading the word on social media. Here’s what you need to keep your eyes peeled for on Thursday for the "Together, At Home" series:

“Things have slowed down just a little bit, but music has the power to heal us all and temporarily distract us,” Puth said. “Thanks so much for coming today, check out Niall and Common tomorrow, and peace be with you.”
