Do you want to see the world the way billionaire Bill Gates sees it? One place to start is to read the way Gates reads.

This summer, Gates released his list of five summer reading books — and he’s inviting recent college graduates to join him in reading his favorite.

The entrepreneur and philanthropist gave college graduates the gift of knowledge on Tuesday, offering them a free download of the book “Factfulness” by the late scientist Hans Rosling

Take Action: Tell the Netherlands Why Education Is the Key to Girls' Health and Empowerment

“Although I think everyone should read it, it has especially useful insights for anyone who’s making the leap out of college and into the next phase of life,” Gates wrote in a blog post on Gates Notes

All a college grad — and really anyone with an interest in learning, we might add — has to do is subscribe to Gates Notes and select their college from a dropdown menu here. After registration, the e-book will automatically download.

The book, published in April, argues that when we look at the data behind global trends like poverty reduction, girls’ education, and global health indicators, the world actually begins to look a lot more — not less — hopeful.

“This book is my very last battle in my life-long mission to fight devastating global ignorance,” Rosling wrote in the intro. “It is my last attempt to make an impact on the world: to change people’s ways of thinking, calm their irrational fears, and redirect their energies into constructive activities.”

Indeed, global poverty was cut in half between 1990 and 2015, with more than 1 billion people lifting themselves out of extreme poverty during that time, according to World Bank statistics
