Miquel is currently studying for her BA in Political Science and History at Rutgers University. As a Digital Content Intern for Global Citizen, she hopes to engage millennials in conversations about Girls and Women, Education, and Global Health. She likes to think she's a true global citizen, by having roots in Ireland, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica.
Miquel believes a global citizen is someone who identifies with being part of an emerging world community and recognizes that their actions contribute to building the world community's values and practices. Borders separate society into fractions, but as a global citizen you can disregard those barriers and reach out to others on the basis of shared humanity. Being a global citizen is looking outside your own sphere and understanding, appreciating, and celebrating those who may different.
