Learn More about this cause:

Water is life.

Safe, clean, and available drinking water helps children avoid deadly diseases, works to ensure girls can stay in school, and allows women to earn a living wage without having to spend hours each day collecting water from distant sources.

However, in 2019, one in nine people still lack access to safe water and one in three lack access to basic sanitation. People like Nzilani, a six-year-old Kenyan girl, who makes two trips, twice a day, to fetch water from a nearby lake. There is no community well in Nzilani’s village, and she and her three young siblings have no money to buy clean, bottled water. The dirty, bacteria-filled lake water makes her sick, but for Nzilani, dirty water is better than no water at all.

Global Citizen is working to raise awareness around why access to clean water is so important and to help ensure action is taken by decision makers — so that people everywhere can have clean water, sanitation and hygiene by 2030.

So whether you’re thirsty for knowledge about water or you already consider yourself an ‘aquaphile’, take the plunge and find out how much you truly know about the world's most vital resource.
