The End of Polio

Dear World Leaders,

We believe that every child deserves the chance for a healthy life. And through the provision of vaccines, we can help ensure a better future for millions of children around the world.

Right now, we have a unique opportunity to use the power of vaccines to wipe out a disease for good – polio. And if we do, it will prove to the world that we can reach even the hardest-to-reach children with other vaccines and health services.

We call on you to make the most of this window of opportunity and fully fund polio eradication efforts through to the end. Together, we can create a brighter future for all the world’s children – beginning with a future free from polio.

I was lucky to be born and raised in UK and at a time where vaccinations were available to all infants. I remember the mother of a friend who was a survivor of Polio and the physical difficulties it caused her. We have the knowledge and wealth to end this needless suffering - lets get this moving..

I am a survivor of polio. I am fortunate to have no noticeable residual. I was almost 2 years old when I suddenly lost my ability to walk, so I have no memory of the disease experience. But I remember my mother's face each time she spoke to me of the experience as a parent. It was a horror. Vaccinating children against polio helps save lives, keeps children healthy and helps parents to avoid the horrific experience of watching their children suffer.
